Chelsea are set to bid for West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice after the conclusion of EURO 2020, as cited by respected Blues reporter Simon Phillips on Twitter.
Enjoying a fantastic 2020/21 season, the 22-year-old was ever present for the Hammers, registering three goal contributions in 35 appearances for his current employers; two goals and one assist [Transfermarkt].
Now embroiled in a chase for international major tournament glory, the midfielder has been a standout performer for the Three Lions, making 22 ball recoveries in five fixtures [UEFA EURO 2020].
Allegedly courting interest from UEFA Champions League winners Chelsea, he will not agitate for a transfer request, but could seriously consider his future if the Blues make a mooted £60 million bid.
In light of these rumours, no wonder loads of Irons diehards took to Twitter to rubbish the report and sing the praises of their star asset.
West Ham United fans react:
Replying to the news from Eurosport’s Dean Jones, via Phillips on Twitter, here is how some supporters reacted to the Rice news:
“Won’t bid remotely close to what we want so this is a non-starter. What happened to the fact Lampard pushed for Rice and the Chelsea board were seriously against it? That all forgotten now…”
